It is easy to miss and is found while you are jumping across a shallow pool of lava next to the pile of skulls there. Following this, the next journal will be lying inconspicuously on the floor as you progress. The fourth journal is found at the end of the gauntlet you will encounter next to a wooden cross. While the last journal appears in the second alcove during the spike trap segment. With this, you have collected all five necessary journals.
The last step is to meet with Captain Pendragon at the surface, where he will unlock the chest granting you the Ashen Curse. Additionally, you will also get the Hull of the Ashen Dragon, a skin for your ship.
Curse of Sunken Sorrow/Sorrow Curse
The Curse of Sunken Sorrow is one of the more time-consuming Sea of Thieves curses due to the fact that it has to be done in one session. This makes it so the player can’t lose any items required or quit if they don’t want to redo the voyage. The curse’s appearance makes the player get glow-in-the-dark markings on the face and upper chest. - Shrine of Hungering
- Shrine of the Coral Tomb
- Shrine of Ocean’s Fortune
- Shrine of Floded Embrace
- Shrine of Ancient Tears
- Shrine of Tribute
Gathering all the journals you get the quest ‘’The Curse of the Sunken Kingdom’’, following this buy The Legend of the Sunken Kingdom off of Larinna. This unlocks a voyage that will take you to three shrines where you will gather various items. Lastly, finish the questline and you will receive the Curse of Sunken Sorrow.
Pirate Legend Curse/Legendary Curse
The Legendary curse is perfect for anyone that likes greek mythology, Zeus especially. It features glowing blue eyes that reflect those of the greek god. As a bonus, shirtless players will get a blue skull marking on their chests.

The only other requirement is to reach Renown level 100 during season one. Making this something many players yearn for a rerun of. But who knows maybe the second version of this curse comes out in the next seasons.
