Two months into 2022, and we’re already hyped over some potential new releases. We’re looking at you, Team Cherry. The wildly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most talked-about releases that might happen this year.
Team Cherry’s Metroidvania baby gave us a taste of the Knight’s 2D adventure and left us wanting more. That’s the thing with games like Hollow Knight and Little Nightmares – they’re so incredibly addictive. The enigmatic Hollow Knight made us fall in love with ancient Hallownest’s mysteries, and we haven’t been the same since.
However, it’s been a while since we’ve heard any Silksong news, so what does this mean? Is Hollow Knight: Silksong still happening, and is there an official Silksong release date? What do we actually know about Hollow Knight: Silksong?
If you’re just as curious as we are, stick around for some valuable Silksong updates.
The Success of the Original Hollow Knight
The original Hollow Knight came out in 2017, and took the gaming world by storm. Don’t let Hollow Knight’s cute appearance fool you though – it can get pretty ruthless out there. This 2D Metroidvania’s story unfolds in the ancient kingdom of Hallownest, where our bug-like hero journeys its catacombs and uncovers hidden secrets. Along the way, he encounters both friend and foe, fights bosses, and unlocks new powers and abilities. Calling this 2D action-adventure Metroidvania a well of content might be poetic, but doesn’t even begin to cover it. Hallownest is so lush and rich, reminiscent of a dark and bottomless chasm, full of secrets and stories you must uncover on your own.
Is Hollow Knight: Silksong even Real?
One of the reasons why fans are wondering if Hollow Knight: Silksong is still happening is because Team Cherry remains pretty tight-lipped about the whole matter. In fact, we haven’t had a Silksong update since forever. Luckily, we’ve snooped around and managed to find some Silksong news.
Is Silksong finished?
In January 2021, Matthew Griffin, head of the PR and Marketing for Hollow Knight, stated that Silksong’s content is pretty much complete, and that Team Cherry was in the process of testing. Griffin also pointed out that the final testing stage doesn’t have to mean anything in terms of a release date. Knowing Team Cherry, they’ll be sending out Silksong only if they’re satisfied with the end result. Until then, we’ll just have to wait and follow Silksong news
Is Silksong coming out soon?
Many Hollow Knight fans were led to believe we’d be getting Silksong soon due to an Nvidia leak. Now, according to this leak, Team Cherry should release Hollow Knight 2 in February 2022.
The dates of some of the games on the list were spot on, like God of War’s PC Port, so there’s still hope. Also, one more thing to keep in mind – Hollow Knight came out in February as well. In reality, we really can’t say if we’ll be getting Silksong this February. Looks like we’ll just have to wait for more Silksong news and an official Silksong release date.
Is Silksong a sequel to Hollow Knight?
Silksong was meant to be a DLC at first, but it eventually ended up becoming a game of its own. Basically, everything Hollow Knight 2 would entail made it much too complex for just a simple expansion. Despite the fact that we’ve been waiting for what seems like an eternity for Hollow Knight 2 to come out, it’s still very much real.
Silksong news – what we know so far
There’s no Silksong release date, but we still managed to find just enough goodies to satisfy your Hollow Knight sweet tooth. Hornet, the main character of Silksong, is captured and taken to Pharloom. There, she must climb until she reached the very top of the kingdom to uncover the reasons for her ending up here. Pharloom is just a vast kingdom, just as rich as Hallownest, with a shining citadel ruled by “Silk and Song”.
In terms of gameplay, Silksong will be very similar to Hollow Knight. There’s also plans to feature over 165 enemies, meaning our little Hornet’s going to have a field day. On top of that, we already know several Silksong bosses, such as Lace Steel Assassin Sharpe. You’ll also find a wide variety of NPCs, which offer quests to Hornet. The division of these quests into quest lines is as follows: Hunt, Wayfinder, Gather, and Grand Hunt.
Another promise for Silksong is that the enemies will be far more intriguing and challenging this time. For instance, while you could trick characters to fall off platforms in Hollow Knight, you’ll have to get more sneaky in Silksong. Pharloom’s denizens are definitely an upgrade, and they have no problems with keeping up with you.
A peek into the Silksong trailer
We might be left in the dark in terms of Silksong’s release date, but there’s plenty of Silksong content to keep us occupied until we get it. After all, there’s not much we can do to speed up the process anyway.
The one thing we can do, however, is watch and enjoy the Hollow Knight: Silksong trailer to pass the time. Although, the sensation might be something akin to rubbing salt into a wound that is yet to heal. Painful and bittersweet, but we’re fairly certain that when Team Cherry drops Silksong, it will definitely be worth the pain.
Is Silksong really happening?
There’s no need to worry, Silksong is still very much alive, and yes, it’s still happening. Even though we don’t have an official Silksong release date, we did manage to find just enough details to keep us in check.
Waiting for Silksong to come out might be downright exhausting, but if it ends up delivering on its promise, we might just cut Team Cherry some slack. The Hollow Knight sequel boasts many promising updates, challenging bosses, a well-developed storyline, and the cutest protagonist. Because of this, Hollow Knight 2 can’t be anything less than extraordinary.
